AN

From the desk of the school founder

Emmy Suparmin, M.Ed, NNCP

When I established my first Montessori school in Indonesia in 2005, it was primarily for my two toddler children.
My mission was crystal clear: they would receive an education far beyond mere memorization.
I envisioned a school environment that cherished the freedom of choice, movement, and speech for every child. It was essential to me that children learn how to be independent so that they could be independent in their learning.

As the school grew, and I relocated to Canada in 2011, my educational journey went beyond Montessori principles. I delved into holistic nutrition, and regenerative agriculture. This exploration enlightened me to the notion that learning shouldn’t be confined to the traditional Montessori classroom. Children needed a living curriculum integrated into their daily lives, promoting holistic living and equipping them with vital skills to navigate the world.

Beyond conventional subjects like algebra and arithmetic, children needed to acquire practical survival skills such as cultivating and preparing food, or basic carpentry. It was crucial for them to comprehend the value of nature and embrace a simpler lifestyle.
